Intersection Studies

This design for the Hunter College Film School extension is conceived as a cinematic instrument. Generated by the De Stijl manipulation of a cubic volume—rotating and shifting its planes—the architecture frames the city and student life with intention.The building’s most public gesture is a floor-to-ceiling glass corner featuring stepped seating, turning the urban intersection into a curated spectacle. Internally, each shifted slab creates distinct programmatic volumes: studios become light-controlled cubes, critique spaces become stacked overlooks.The building functions as a pedagogical tool, where the act of seeing—through framed views, controlled light, and exposed circulation—becomes part of the film curriculum.
