Info

This project unfolds a condition in which a city floats on water, asking the questions of who are the urban planners, what are the social injustices caused by urban planning, and how can urban planning transcend current unjust social divisions? It proposes a city that floats on water, its master plan generated through collective play using the Flower of Life geometric system. Here, centers and intersections are one and the same, creating a non-hierarchical grid of interconnected possibilities. The "game" is a framework of Circles (zones of agency), Symbols (shared meaning), and The Infinite Game (ongoing negotiation). Outcomes evolve based on the participants' goalsbe they individual prosperity, communal equity, or environmental symbiosisforcing a direct confrontation with the social injustices embedded in traditional planning.Prototyped on Hong Kong's Lamma Island, the game engaged the real-world conditions of contested access, organic settlement, and community-led placemaking. This project is less a formal proposal than a provocative toola democratic rehearsal for designing the just city.
